This still might be the best non-Disney animated movie of the 80’s and the most unheard of movie of the 80’s, Twice Upon a Time. This movie was by The Ewok Adventure director, John Korty, Puff the Magic Dragon director, Charles Swenson, and Star Wars creator, George Lucas. There was many talented minds who worked on this movie, Some would later go on to make big carrers, including Henry Selick, the director of The Nightmare Before Christmas, and David Fincher, the director of Alien 3, Seven, Fight Club, and the recently released, Zodiac.
The story is about dream deliverer, Greensleeves, getting kidnapped by Botch, and two misfits, Ralph and Mumford have to save not only Greensleeves, But the city of Din, and the balance of it’s time itself.
This was released in 1983, But it preformed misrebly. Why? It’s due to The Ladd Company about to go bankrupt and needing to release Twice Upon a Time and The Right Stuff on a wide or limited release, They said wide on Right Stuff, and limited on Twice. They both failed and caused The Ladd Company to die out. So it had the same history as "Idiocracy", except for the Ladd Company part.
Since then it had a cult following, due to it’s humor, and alternate versions on cable TV. On the cable versions, Botch sweared with like a madman, But it was radically changed on home video and laserdisc. This is still the PG version, but I nick-named this release, “The IKR Edit”, Cause I revised scenes, moved the credits, and took off mistakes. No I’m not trying to do the same thing with “Thief and the Cobbler”, This was from the VHS to your computer. Sorry about the terrible video quality, But honestly, It's worth it.
Please don’t remove this cause I went through a butt-load of work to put this on. -UPDATE Sept 24, 2007: So I noticed that a bunch of visitors kept watching this cause someone did a blog on this movie, and a Cartoon Brew link to the thing, led to the comment box, and the movie's link on the comment box, led to many people seeing this. So thanks a bunch for the many visits and it's the 6th month since it's been on the internuts! (there was 4 months the YouTube uploading back last year)-
